Kane Diep is a filmmaker, social strategist and speaker who helped grow Prime Video’s TikTok from launch to 23.5 million followers. He led the team and strategy behind Plot Pitches, developing and scaling a series that earned 600M+ views and won the 2023 Webby Award for Best Social Video Series. Raised in San Diego by Chinese-Vietnamese refugee parents, Kane grew up between cultures and learned to notice the ways families express love, the things they leave unsaid and the distance between being understood and being heard. As a gay Asian American storyteller, those questions have shaped both his personal work and the way he leads creative teams. Kane directed and co-produced Uploaded: The Asian American Movement, a feature-length documentary exploring how Asian American creators built audiences online. Drawing on 60 interviews, the film received a Grand Jury Award for Non-Fiction nomination at the 2012 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival and was an official selection of the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival and San Diego Asian Film Festival that year. From 2015 to 2019, Kane directed and produced more than 200 BuzzFeed videos, including I Asked My Mom 11 Intimate Questions Before It’s Too Late and I Hired a Speech Therapist to Fix My Boring Voice. From 2020 to 2025, his Prime Video work connected audience insight with experimentation across TikTok and YouTube. He later led Team USA’s YouTube channel strategy through Shareability for the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. Now based in Los Angeles, Kane works independently in consulting and creative strategy. He has brought his documentary and conversations to 12+ universities, including Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania and Boston University. His speaking explores storytelling, representation, creative experimentation and finding a voice, connecting the practical work of reaching audiences with the personal question of what makes a story worth telling.
